ornamental fruit.

I typically take walks in the same nearby neighborhood for its beauty and peacefulness. It's filled with diplomatic residencies, embassies and elegant homes. There's never a lot of activity but something always catches my eye. Today it was this small cherry plum tree.

cool down.

If you're like me, and scouting a water source to beat this weekend's predicted heat, make sure to swing by and run through this awesome fountain in Georgetown's renovated riverside park. (It's for adults too!)

rhubarb.

Speaking of the growing season! From celery green to crimson, I couldn't help admire the wide color range of these rhubarb stalks while making a version of this tasty breakfast loaf.

cyanotypes.

While traveling up north the days were clear and the skies were blue, no clouds in sight. It was the perfect time to try a few sunprints (or cyanotypes), images made by placing objects on light-sensitized paper. I used familiar greens around the yard - young ferns, oxalis, a flowering burning bush and bleeding hearts - to me, markers of late spring in the northeast and the beginning of the growing season.

play date.

No better way to spend an afternoon. When else do I get to color, blow bubbles, dance and sing all in one day? Thank you Jess and Havilah!
